Wedding Trends of 2020

First, let me say WOW! The wedding season of 2019 has been remarkable. I can’t believe that we are almost a month away from the New Year, which means we can officially talk about the wedding season 2020. With the New Year coming, new wedding trends are coming as well. So, by far you can guess what this blog post will be about–wedding trends of 2020. We have a lot of exciting things to talk about, but I will present to you my TOP 7 favorites. And as Frank Capra once said, “Don’t follow trends; start trends” – we are definitely here to do that! Some wedding trends were popular in the 2019 season, and they for sure will be back in 2020.

10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1… Here are my 7 TOP favorite wedding trends in 2020.

#1 Colors, Colors, Colors

Color Palettes and Color Schemes are one of my favorite parts of the wedding planning process. I love supporting and helping my brides with these decisions. We are not talking about color themes like white, navy blue & maroon, but about themes with plenty of bold and neon colors like natural greens, rich orange colors, light crème, neon mints, and pinks.

#2 Bridesmaids Dresses

The mix and match bridesmaids’ dresses trend is IN! In case you are not a big fan of this dress trend here are a few ways of how you can mix and match your bridesmaids’ dresses:
👗 different dresses, same color;
👗 same dresses, three or more coordinating colors;
👗 same dresses, a variety of colors, textures, and patterns;
👗 different dresses, same texture;
👗 different dresses, different colors, different patterns, different textures.

#3 Over the Top Décor & Installations

The wedding décor and installation that we had this year were fabulous, but in 2020 will be extra fabulous. Oversize décor, giant statements, gorgeous wildflowers, over the top rentals and tablescapes even fireworks and smoke flares will be the biggest wedding trend of 2020.

#4 Sustainability

Sustainability is one trend that will be so popular in 2020, not just at weddings, everywhere. There are a lot of easy ways to make your wedding sustainable–from using wedding stationery made from recycled paper, swapping out plastic straws for biodegradable straws, repurposing flower décor and bridesmaids bouquets, asking for donations alongside the traditional wedding gift from guests, to finding a catering company that sources local and organic produce. This means cutting back on unnecessary waste and trying to be as eco-friendly as possible. 

#5 Wedding Cake & Dessert Displays

The wedding cake and the dessert bar aren’t just for eating anymore, they’re here to serve as a wedding decoration. That being said, the wedding cake and dessert displays are a MUST-HAVE trend for your wedding. A beautifully arranged cake backdrop will bring much more life to your event. Let’s not forget about the sugar edible flowers and painted flowers on the cakes – such a huge difference from the traditional white cake back in the days. 

#6 Lighting & Technology

One wedding event can’t be produced completely without great lighting. You can use this technology trend in so many ways – change up the feeling of your party from dinner to dancing with a light show, gorgeous hanging installations to tube lighting and LED bars, hanging lights from palm trees, strings of fairy lights above the floor and many endless options. In conclusion, you can easily enhance the wedding venue by placing decorative illumination to highlight the best features.

#7 Feels like home

The last wedding trend of 2020 I want to talk about is making your wedding day ‘feels just like home’. When I say ‘like home’ that doesn’t mean to bring the actual elements of your home, but adding a rental such as sofas, comfy chairs, rugs, etc. Another great idea to add a homey touch to your destination wedding by placing photo frames with photos of you two or if you had an engagement session.
